Friends serve as volunteers in the museum, host receptions, raise funds through operating the gift store and provide other help as needed. 

Benefits of being a Friend include free admission for the member and a guest to the Alaska State Museum in Juneau and the Sheldon Jackson Museum in Sitka, a 10% discount at both museum stores, a Friends newsletter, educational opportunities, invitations to exhibition openings and other special events, and a vote at membership meetings.

To become a member of the Friends of the Alaska State Museum, submit a membership fee in your name or that of a family member or friend, in one of the amounts shown below. Your membership is essential to assisting the Museums in their job of helping us know the past, the present and each other.

• Individual: $30 annually (receives one membership card).

• Students and seniors: $10 annually

 (receives one membership card).

• Family: $40 annually (receives two membership cards).

• Sustaining: $100 annually (receives four membership cards).

• Corporate: $500 annually (receives two membership cards, one complimentary Friends' publication, one complimentary Friends' exclusive product up to $25 in value, recognition in the newsletter, and is eligible for
  co-op marketing opportunities of Friends' events) .

• Life: $1,000 one-time contribution (receives six membership cards including two lifetime cards and four cards valid for one year, and one complimentary Friends' exclusive product up to $25 in value for a benefit period of ten years).

• Caretaker: $5,000 one-time contribution (receives ten membership cards including two sponsor cards and eight cards valid for one year, and one complimentary Friends' exclusive product up to $25 in value for a benefit period of ten years).

Annual membership terms are based on a calendar year.
